Job Description
Creates and utilizes computer-numerical control (CNC) programs to produce piece parts that meet engineering requirements. Programs basic CNC machining operations and performs inspection, processing of parts by automatic machine tools, equipment, or systems.
Primary
Responsibilities:
Operates manual and CNC machine equipment such as lathe, mills, tool & cutter grinders, saws, etc.
Reviews and interprets blueprints, specifications, and other information to determine the sequence of machine operations, reference points, machine cutting paths, hole locations, computes linear dimensions, radii, curvatures, etc. Selects the proper tools needed to machine work pieces
Reviews job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and designs data in order to calculate dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates
Observes machines on trial runs or conducts computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications; including verifying programming with original part specifications and blueprints to verify accuracy of instructions. Revises programs to eliminate errors, and retests programs to check that problems have been solved
Creates and maintains basic programs and modifies existing programs for either CNC mill or CNC lathe in the language of the machine's controller to enhance efficiency
Performing the necessary deburring and inspection of parts to assure conformance to engineering requirements.
Basic
Qualifications:
Typically requires HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

Preferred
Qualifications:
3
years' experience in the field
Working knowledge of geometry and trigonometry
Basic to working knowledge of CNC programming, GibbsCAM preferred
Working knowledge of manufacturing principles and processes including mechanical machines
Working knowledge of blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and inspection tools and techniques including knowledge of gage use and proper gage selection
Basic to moderate proficiency in machining set up and operation
Ability to perform basic programming on 3 axis mill or 2 axis lathe

The salary range for this role is 36,000 USD - 72,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
