As part of our Summer Claims Team, you will make significant contributions to the Farm Bureau claim experience with our client/members. You will assist our claims adjusters with managing their open claims by obtaining estimates and photos of auto and property damages, learning how to issue various payments, running various reports, setting up auto rental authorizations and placing service close calls to our Insured customers. You may also be trained to settle some minor claims from start to finish. During extreme storm events that trigger high-volume auto claims, you will have primary responsibility for the scheduling of hail inspection appointments, assist with contact calls to our insured, issue payments, run various reports, etc. This position may be involved with piloting new platforms/applications the Company is considering for adoption. Although previous work experience is desired, we welcome the opportunity to teach the right candidates who possess the traits we need - including strong work ethic, excellent communications and interpersonal skills, multi-tasking ability, adaptability, quick-learners and highly-organized.We are looking for five (5) interns to join our team this summer! Interns will be involved in our 80/10/10 internship approach. The 80/10/10 approach means that 80% of your work time will involve performing tasks or working on projects within your hired work area, 10% of your time will be exposure to other areas of the business through various venues, and the final 10% of your time will be spent involved in corporate activities and shared experiences across the organization. We will also assign you to a mentor from our Team for the summer.This opportunity is a great way for you to get your foot in the door and spend your summer gaining entry level claims/insurance experience, as well as general corporate, real-world exposure.What It Takes to Join Our Team:
Be a current full-time college student enrolled in classes for fall 2024. Completion of one year of college is highly preferred, although, the exceptional incoming college freshman will be considered. Must be able to thrive in a challenging, fast-paced and dynamic environment. Exceptional customer service skills - including strong verbal and written communication skills. The ability to establish rapport with all kinds of personalities quickly while communicating effectively over the phone is essential. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, while paying attention to detail and working accurately. Must be able to exercise independent judgment and arrive at decisions through sound, logical reason. Possess the ability to learn quickly and follow instructions. Must be able to spend much of the day on the telephone during high-volume storm claims events. Expected to acquire a basic understanding of property insurance policies, as well as learn and comply with all company and governmental rules and regulations. The duration of this temporary position is May-August 2024 and schedules will be assigned after training (between the hours of 7:
30am-5:
30pm). Flexibility in scheduling is a must, as this opportunity will be expected to support the high volume generated by storm events. Therefore, your availability for the occasional evening, weekend, and overtime hours is required in order to best serve our client/members and support our claims staff. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
