DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with a dedicated team of professionals who take pride in achieving positive patient outcomes.
Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, adaptability, and effective problem-solving skills while working under the direct supervision of physicians.
Follow a flexible work schedule, including weekdays, with an on-call rotation for weekends.
Prepare and evaluate patients preoperatively in an efficient and caring manner to provide for a smooth patient flow throughout their experience.
Collects, assesses, and analyzes patient data using nursing diagnoses to develop plan of care.
Responsible for obtaining appropriate lab specimens.
Maintains knowledge of equipment and stays abreast of current perioperative nursing trends.
Review patient charts immediately preoperatively to ensure completeness, including completion of all preoperative consents.
Communicate effectively and appropriately with staff, physicians, patients, families and other health care team members.
Conduct assessments according to facility guidelines.
Prepares for surgical cases in an efficient manner, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia, and other surgical team members.
Provides a safe environment for patient and staff by implementing standards of aseptic technique and by controlling the physical and psychological aspects of that environment.
Provides airway management.
Ongoing physiological assessment through all phases of the surgical experience, including medication and pain management.
Participates in the performance improvement process.
Assists with regulatory compliance throughout the organization.
Demonstrates competence in specified computer applications.
Adheres to all Joint Commission standards and CMS Rules and Regulations.
Scrubs and circulates on cases independently, with minimal direction.
Collects and analyzes data and assesses patient in developing nursing diagnosis.
Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up and function.
Initiates and directs room clean up and turnover.
Weekend and holiday call required on a rotation basis Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

with license to practice in State of Iowa.
Mandatory reporting course within previous 5 years, or obtains within 3 months of hire IV skill preferred.
Knowledge of perioperative services.
Maintains BLS qualification, or obtains within 6 months of hire.
Maintains ACLS qualification, or obtains within 6 months of hire.
Operating Room experience preferred Ability to read, write and speak English language without translation KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
