Essential Functions:
Scrubs surgical cases in own specialty independently and in other areas with minimal direction.
Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up and functioning and seeks appropriate resource when necessary.
Assists in the circulating role under the direct supervision of R.
N.
Prepares for surgical cases in an efficient manner, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia and other O.
R.
team members.
Provides a safe environment for patient and staff by adhering to standards of aseptic technique and department/hospital policy.
Communicates effectively with patient, staff and physicians.
Participates in the performance improvement process and assists with regulatory compliance throughout organization.
Demonstrates competence in specified computer applications.

EQUIPMENT/TOOLS:
Standard O.

equipment including, but not limited to, all types of surgical instrumentation, cautery, microscopes, video systems, and power equipment.
Also use of phone, computer terminal, and written materials.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions.
The worker is subject to noise from various types of surgical equipment.
The worker is subject to vibration; for example:
from drills, saws, etc.
The worker is subject to hazards from electrical equipment, mechanical parts, biohazards, etc.
The worker is subject to gases and fumes (example:
bone cement) anesthesia gases.
Employees in this job classification have been identified as having the likelihood of occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials, therefore, are included in the OSHA Exposure Control Plan with all its specifications for preventing contact with the above materials.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Has current RN license with OR Scrub experience or has completed a Surgical Technician Program.
Surgical Technician Certification preferred but not required Experience in Orthopedics preferred but not required Maintains BLS qualification.
Maintains ACLS qualification, or obtains within 6 months of hire.
